Museum Hotel Wellington is a privately owned 160 room luxury hotel located opposite Te Papa and a short stroll to theatres, shopping, waterfront, Waitangi Park and Oriental Parade. The hotel offers both traditional hotel rooms and apartment style studios with five beautiful function spaces. Great location, very boutique and luxe feel to the place. Classic room is cosy and feels opulent rather than a sanitised hotel room. Late night dining options could be better - they only offer microwaveable meals. Highly rated although pity they are not part of a loyalty programme of some sort.

Sadly our experience was not as we expected. The restaurant was full on our arrival and with no knowledge of wtgn we, found the staff unhelpful in guiding us elsewhere. The room was in bad need of an update, paying an upmarket tariff for a cracked hand basin etc i felt disappointed having booked for an anniversary surprise.
