At the heart of Wellington's commercial and retail districts the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor has 268 well appointed rooms and suites. Whitby's Restaurant & Bar, 24 hour room service, concierge and reception, in house day spa, covered car park and our proximity to all local attractions are just some of the features you'll really appreciate. All rooms have high speed internet access, Sky TV, in house movie system, iron and board, full minibar and tea/coffee making facilities. We also offer a complimentary in-house gymnasium. Car parking $30 per night. The hotel is only a short walk to the city's government and corporate offices with direct access to the major shopping precinct of Lambton Quay. Parliament, Wellington Convention Centre, Westpac Trust Stadium, Te Papa Museum, the Cable Car and Botanical Gardens are all within ten minutes walk. Lift Upgrade Schedule The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor is currently replacing all elevators at the Hotel, expected to be completed by late 2018. The schedule has allowed at least one working elevator for each hotel wing throughout the duration of the upgrade. The lift access to Lambton Quay is currently serviced by one elevator. All floors will still be accessible by guests however please note that some delays may be expected during peak times. Please note, a credit-card imprint is required at check-in or a $100NZD bond per night is payable. If using a debit card (visa or otherwise, full accommodation charge is payable upon check-in, plus the bond). All credit card transactions will be on-charged a surcharge equivalent to credit card provider costs incurred. Credit card surcharges are: Visa/Mastercard/JCB 1.64%, American Express 3.35%, Diners Club 3.0%
